Revenues down again for casinos in Chile

Gross Gaming Revenues in Chile including revenue generated by the seven municipal casinos stood at US$36,85 million in August. This is a decrease of- 4.4% compared to the same month last year while the cumulative gross gaming growth rate stood at -1.3%. The cumulative growth rate for the casinos took into account the period from August 2016 to August 2017, which were then compared with the accumulated income of the period from August 2015 to August 2016.

According to the Chilean Gaming Control Board (SJC), Gross Gaming Revenue for the casinos which already come under the supervision of the SJC stood at US$25,99m and made up 70.5% of the total. 

Meanwhile, Gross Gaming Revenue for the seven municipal casinos stood at US$10,85 million making up 29.5%. Of the total, bingo accounted for 0.1% of gross gaming revenue; Roulette 5.7%; Card games 11.4%; Dice games 0.3% and slots 82.5%.

The number of visitors to the non municipal casinos in August stood at 429,204, -5.3% when compared to August 2016 recording a cumulative growth rate of -0.8% over the last twelve months.

On average visitors spent US$60,56 each plus 0.4% when compared to August 2016 and -0.8% over the last twelve months. Meanwhile, total visitors to the municipal casinos (not including the casino in Puerto Varas which does not record this information) stood at 205,522 for the month of August.

The amount gambled in March via the 9,956 gaming machines that were in operation in the 17 non municipal casinos amounted to US$346,19m. The prizes paid to players reached US$325,03m which made up 93.9% of the total amount wagered. As a result, gross win stood at US$21,16m.

In terms of gross gaming income generated by the 17 non municipal casinos Sun Monticello Casino came in first place with 17.4%. The top five venues are completed by Casino de Viña del Mar (11.5%),  Casino Rinconada (10.7%), Marina del Sol Talcahuano (8.5%), and Coquimbo (6.1%).
