Chamber of Deputies President says

Brazil can have a casino system that stimulates tourism

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ), said this week that he is not against the legalization of gambling, and that Brazil may have a casino system that stimulates tourism. The parliamentarian promised the deputies of the Pro-Gaming Front to vote on the PL 442/91 vote that deals with the legalization of gaming later this month.

Maia has been one of the most sought after by the advocates of legalization of gaming and has received deputies, entities and businessmen to address the matter. Last week, he was with governors of the Brazilian states who asked for speed in the process of regulating the activity in order to have the taxes converted into the public security fund.

Following the launch of the Pro-Gaming Parliamentary Front, Rodrigo Maia had a meeting with Deputy Cesar Halun, who presides the Front, where he promised that the bill would enter the agenda this November. Before, in September, in another meeting with pro-gaming deputies, businessmen and sector entities, the president of the Chamber of Deputies expressed his conviction on the idea of legalizing gaming in the country.

Bill PL 442/91 was approved by the gaming committee of the Chamber of Deputies in the past and since then has been waiting to be voted in plenary by the parliamentarians. While in the Senate, Benedito de Lira (PP-AL), the rapporteur for the gambling regularization project, presented his opinion in the House Constitution and Justice Committee, after being approved in committee, the text will be voted in plenary by the senators.
