Codere invoice 7% more thanks to operations in LatAm

Spanish multinational Codere announced the results of the second quarter of the year, in which it showed solidity in its business, reporting positive results. The strength of local demand and the company's operating excellence in Argentina and Mexico, together with the Uruguayan recovery, were key in this quarter.

Overall, second-quarter revenue reached € 409.4 million, 6.6% more than the € 383.9 million recorded in 2016, largely due to growth in Argentina (13.2%), Mexico (7.5%) and in Spain (5.7%).

Adjusted EBITDA amounted to € 63.5 million in the second quarter of 2017, down 3.3% from the same period in 2016, as a result of the increase in taxes on gambling in Argentina and Italy and the weakness of the margin in Spain.

Cumulative revenues for the year amounted to € 814.5 million, up 7.2% on the previous year.

Investments made in the second quarter of 2017 amounted to € 23.6 million, € 16.9 million to maintenance projects and € 6.7 million to growth, which were mainly used to acquire machinery operators in Italy and the expansion of the sports betting business in Spain.

Codere's machine park (excluding those operated by third parties) remained stable compared to 2016, standing at 55,331 units, offsetting the growth of the park in Italy, rationalizing the portfolio of points of sale in Colombia.

The total number of sports betting shops increased 14.7% to 172, a growth that has been concentrated mainly in Spain. In this period, the company opened a new gaming room in Mexico to a total of 146 in the Group as a whole.
