BGC reaffirms the need for gambling regulation in Brazil

In a spectacular way and with a great organization by Clarion Gaming, the fifth edition of the Brazilian Gaming Congress ended on Tuesday in São Paulo, which once again makes clear the need for serious and transparent regulation of the gaming activity in Brazil.

The event attracted, in addition to operators from various gaming jurisdictions around the world, some of the major regulators, suppliers, law firms, national and foreign authorities and gaming certification labs.

I participated in all the previous editions of this event and each of them contributed a lot to the consolidation of important aspects of the regulation of gaming in Brazil. But this time, by the profile of the public that attended the BGC, it became clear the need to regulate once and for all an economic activity that knocks at the doors of the government to say that it is a business that can generate more than US$ 8.65 billion to the country. So it's time for the industry to be heard by the decision-makers officials.

In conversations during the event, I was able to notice the restlessness of professionals from around the world who asked me why Brazil has no regulated gaming. Without answer, because it is inexplicable, I told everyone that the BGC itself was showing in these two days the ways and the importance of the sector and that soon everything will be different.

What motivates me at this moment is to imagine that the next edition of the BGC, already scheduled for 2019, will debate no more regulation, but good practices for the country to improve more and more an economic activity that generates thousands of jobs, millions of dollars in taxes and tourist attraction to our major leisure destinations where regulated gambling activities will offer even more entertainment opportunities.

That's what the BGC 2018 left behind as a legacy.
