Requested by the committee chairman, Deputy Roberto Andrade, the meeting is set to discuss the benefits that the activity will bring to the Brazilian economy by regulating games of chance operated by the private sector.

During the meeting, Luiz Carlos Prestes Filho, a specialist in cultural economics, will launch the official publication for the Minas Gerais public of his book "The Theory of Probabilities in Gaming, Science and Public Policy".

The book addresses issues ranging from probabilities to backward political issues that make Brazil one of the few countries in the world not to have regulated gambling. For the author, "the moment of the public hearing is conducive so that the the society of Minas Gerais can join all those who support the reopening of casinos in Brazil, since the state has always stood out in this area with some of the best casinos in the country when they were allowed until the middle of the last century.”

The public hearing will be broadcast live on the website of the Legislative Assembly of Minas Gerais and can be followed by clicking on this link.

The book by Luiz Carlos Prestes Filho can be purchased locally, in all units of Livraria Cultura or in printed or digital format, by clicking on this link.
