Gonzalo Punturo, firm’s CCO

"With the sector regulated NetinPlay will have a strong presence in Brazil"

With big plans for the country, Netinplay is one of the companies that looks forward to entering the gaming market in Brazil. GMB spoke with the firm's CCO, Gonzalo Punturo, who talked about the Brazilian difficulties to achieve a regulatory framework and said that with the law they could start a major project. 'When the country regulates the activity we will have a very significant presence here, because we are in all of Latin America and Brazil is the engine of the continent,' he said.

GMB - What is your opinion about the process of gaming regulation in Brazil?
Gonzalo Punturo - I think it is difficult because different areas of government need to be agreed, but it is necessary. However, we estimate that in some time the law will finally come out and the regulatory framework will be given so that the business can be developed seriously.

Compared with other countries, is the legalizing gambling process in Brazil taking longer than it should?
We know how the process was in Colombia because we are launching our license in the country. We also know how it went in Spain, because we have another license there. Compared to them, we see that Brazil is a bit slow in this process. However, Latin America moves a little slower generally. It seems to me that here it is necessary to take the bases of other places where the market is regulated and the political decision must be firm, otherwise, it can not have the speed that should. Let's see what the next events will look like.

What are NetinPlay plans for Brazil? In what areas of the sector do you want to develop?
When Brazil regulates the activity we will have a very remarkable presence here, because we are in all Latin America and Brazil is the motor of the continent. We have a very interesting project that intends to have points of sale spread throughout the territory giving a great regionality. We believe that we will be a well-known brand with a beautiful challenge here.

Netinplay has recently been in Brazil as one of the exhibitors in the last edition of BgC? What was the main objective of the company in the event?
Netinplay went to the BgC to study the possibility of starting operations in Brazil believing that it is a very interesting country for this market when regulated. With the law, it's a market that interests us.

Did you have the chance to make good deals and contacts during the event?
Yes. We had meetings to carry out good and potential business for Brazil joining part of what can be done here. We are very pleased with the results we had at BgC.

In addition to networking and new business, how did you see the event in terms of the content and the structure offered by the organization?
The event is in a market in which obviously does not have a regularization framework, and the exhibitors were in the doubt between coming or not coming, which seems to me to be in accordance with the circumstances. Most important were the conferences that talked about the regulation of the law. It was very interesting to see people from the United States talking about their experiences and pointing out the steps to be taken to reach a consensus on a law that regulates the market, allowing companies to generate work, pay taxes and apply resources to the poor needed. This is a very firm and serious industry, where you work well, but you need to have a regulatory framework. You can not work without it.

Can you tell us a bit about NetinPlay's other projects and goals outside Brazil?
NetinPlay is taking a very important first step, as we are launching, as I said before, a national license in Colombia. With this license we seek markets where there is a regulatory framework where we can develop. We have Colombia and Spain as our main regulated markets, a partnership with IslandBet in Jamaica, where we have a unique and exclusive Jamaican national license for B2B business, but our most interesting target is B2C. Latin America and Spain are the first step of NetinPlay to develop very interesting projects.
