Flávio Raimundo, organizer of the event

"With gaming legalized Affiliates Brazil would be an event ten times bigger”

This week, the Affiliated Brazil Congress brought together thousands of people to understand the market for affiliate marketing, networking and new business in São Paulo. GMB talked to Flávio Raimundo, one of the organizers of the event, about the concept of affiliate marketing and how a legalized gaming industry would work alongside the affiliate market in Brazil. 'We could make a big event and show people who work with affiliation that gaming might be a better product than e-books, capsules, etc.,' he said.

Affiliates Brazil is the first and largest event on affiliate marketing organized in Brazil. Created by three professionals related to the development and monetization of websites, the congress brings together bloggers, webmasters, affiliates, companies, agencies, advertisers and users who are directly or indirectly linked to the development of commercial projects on the Internet showing through lectures and other technical and tactical activities to improve the income and sales of projects on the Internet.

In the 2018 edition, which started on Thursday and runs until Sunday (26) at the Frei Caneca Exhibition Center in São Paulo, Affiliates Brazil has three companies that operates in the gaming field: Vera & John, 1XBET and Betmotion. GMB spoke with Flávio Raimundo talking about the concept of affiliate marketing and how the two markets, gaming and affiliation, can work together after the legalization of the activity in the country.

GMB - Explain us what the concept of Affiliate Brazil is and its main objective?
Flávio Raimundo - The simplest concept that we have of Affiliates Brazil is that it is a portal that shows a parallel universe called affiliate marketing. So, the purpose of the event is precisely to show that there is such a door, to get people through it, and through lectures, networking, and contact with exhibitors, people qualify to work in this parallel universe. However, Affiliates Brazil shows the universe, helps train, but, the great balcony is the dedication of people after entering this world.

Can the concept of affiliate marketing be used by gambling and betting operators?
Affiliate Marketing is a great umbrella and underneath that umbrella is the entire gaming industry. Gaming is part of affiliate marketing because it is through promotion of casinos and gaming companies that the affiliate can make money. Unfortunately, in Brazil we still do not have legislation, but we could have an event ten times bigger than this one with the gaming area because the market is absolutely fantastic.

So, does the affiliate marketing sector also expect legalization of gaming in Brazil? How could the two activities work together?
Yes. Wait anxiously. In terms of the event, as we are talking about Affiliates Brazil, it would be just to make a big event and show people who want to work with affiliation that gaming might be a better product than selling e-books, capsules, etc. Even as the gambling industry has a feature of being lifetime, the person puts a customer in there and can earn money the rest of life. You can work five years and get five more without doing anything you will be earning for ten years. So it's a new universe within that great universe, a giant parallel world. The gaming industry in the world is simply gigantic.

And how do you evaluate the process of gaming legalizing in Brazil?
The entire gaming industry says that only from taxes would we have US$ 5.5 billion to raise if it the activity is legalized. But I do not know why the deputies do not approve, not if they want something, what is the problem, but, the thing does not walk. An industry so fantastic that it would generate thousands upon thousands of physical jobs and tens hundreds of thousands of affiliates. It is complicated here in Brazil legislation that brings a common good. Laws in Brazil flow very quickly when it is to benefit a large company like Odebrecht, this is in every newspaper, it has paid US$ 13.5 million in bribes and there is a tax exemption that generated a saving of US$ 2 billion. So then, the thing flows in a fantastic way, but, when it is for the common good, and certainly the gaming industry is for the common good, the thing hangs, gets tied up, it's complicated in Brazil. But, I am a hopeful person. I think one day it will legalize and it will be a nice regulation.

And how do you plan the future of the Brazil Affiliates event? What are the projects for the next editions?
The future of Affiliates Brazil is to grow a lot and it is already doing so. The affiliate marketing industry has grown on average 50 to 100% per year in recent years and I think it will have this growth rate for the next 10 years at the very least. And Affiliates Brazil wants to grow, not 100% per year; although we grew up I think about 200% of last year here; but I do believe in growth. And affiliate marketing does not depend on Brasilia, public policies, it's another universe as I said. And in this universe did not arrive Michel Temer, no one arrived and will not arrive because their business is another.
