Luckia does not rule out the Chilean model for future casino in Brazil

Spanish gaming firm Luckia is investing €82 million in the Arica City Center of Chile with a casino, five-star hotel and commercial area, being the second hotel of the group. Its president, José González Fuentes, stressed that Brazil will modify its legislation and that can follow the Chilean model, leaving the door open for a similar future development in Brazil when the country regulates the activity.

The president of Luckia, José González Fuentes, explains that the Government of Chile demands a project of tourist interest to give license to the casinos, for which they have built a hotel. The Antay Hotel de Arica is the second of Luckia, which already had another in the same country.

Gonzalez Fuentes says that Luckia is "a gaming company" and that "in principle" it is not in his plans to build more hotels. "But if some other project with that requirement appeared, we would build it," he says. He mentions that Brazil will modify its legislation and can follow the Chilean model.

Formerly Egasa, Luckia decided to take its business beyond gaming - its activity focuses on casinos and sports betting - and executes the largest investment in its history in Chile. The company will dedicate 82 million euros to a tourist and leisure complex in the Chilean town of Arica.

The Arica City Center real estate, tourism and commercial project is the most ambitious project undertaken by the company. In addition to the casino, the complex includes a five-star hotel with 129 rooms, restaurants, an events center with capacity for 800 people, a surf club, a wellness space and a commercial buvelar with 33 stores.

With regard to the brand new investment in the Arica City Center, the president of Luckia highlights its importance at a regional level, stating that "this center will be a benchmark for all of Chile, Bolivia, Argentina, Peru and even Paraguay."
