The innovations are based on many of the fan engagement tools used during the 2019/20 campaign, known to have taken place in the Disney “bubble” in Florida.
For the next season, the official NBA app and website will bring additional alternative streams for selected games on League Pass, such as interactive game overlays and the option to download offline matches to watch in other moment.
The NBA will also offer ‘NBA BetStreams’, where league content partners such as Bleacher Report, Action Network and Yahoo Sports will take over the broadcasts geared towards gambling, with statistics and bets displayed everywhere.
The ‘Sideline Stream’ will continue to offer alternative angles. The ‘Influencers Stream’ will also be maintained, which will feature celebrities in alternative League Pass broadcasts.
“Orlando gave us the opportunity to innovate in a way that we had never done before and to accelerate many of the different tests that we had already planned to do. Normally, we would have used the Summer League and some of our other test fields to do these things on time. But this was just one way to bring a lot of that to light,” said Sara Zuckert, head of NBA broadcasts, in an interview with USA Today.
