GMB - Did the Brazilian market need to have a face-to-face event of this level?
Natalia Nogues - We are at a crucial moment for the gaming industry in Brazil. With regulations being debated and negotiated at full speed and companies entering and investing in the Brazilian betting market, these face-to-face events are very important to promote the potential of the Brazilian market, operators and service providers to get to know each other, gaming specialists in Brazil have the opportunity to transmit their knowledge and contacts to encourage and stimulate even more bets here in Brazil, showing stakeholders the potential return on results we can provide.
During the pandemic we had to adapt and keep meeting virtually in webinars on gaming issues, but we know how important it is to be close to people in this field, as the eye to eye, the handshakes, a cup of coffee and the exchange of stories and experiences makes all the difference when making great business partnerships. BiS will certainly meet a need and a longing that were all over these events.
Can the strength of BiS and its dissemination in the media help to understand that this industry should be legalized for the benefit of the country?
The event and its dissemination in all media will be a great help that the industry needs to demonstrate how important and beneficial regulation is for the country. Just seeing this heated market, with many companies that have great investment interests in marketing, opening a business, generating jobs, hiring local services in general and also the interest in being within the law, paying all the required taxes, the government may be motivated to speed up the regulation project. Timing in this case is everything, you cannot let the excitement of investments in this market pass.
What topics will you cover or would like to develop on your panel?
My panel is about the “Differentials of successful Operators in Brazil”. I would like to highlight points that I have been commenting for some time on some precautions that companies need to take with their product in the Brazilian market in order to achieve results. These precautions are put aside due to the rush to start the operation, but many companies end up frustrated for not getting quick or expected results and end up losing energy or increasing their lack of interest in continuing to invest in the country, believing that the Brazilian market is very complex. It is necessary to publicize and help these companies to understand the needs of betting in Brazil, only in this way will we keep the market heated and competitive.
How do you analyze Brazil's growth this year specifically in the gaming market segment where you work and specialize? What are your expectations for 2022?
I analyze that the gaming market in Brazil has only increased. More and more we see huge investments in branding made by foreign companies and this accelerates and stimulates even more the country's economy. I worked in some operations before, then I started to provide consultancy for companies in this sector and currently I joined as a partner in a company that offers 360 solutions for Gaming firms that already work or are interested in investing in this segment in Brazil.
I believe this moment is the beginning of a prosperous future for the gaming sector in the country. The next year will still be a lot of work, companies will already begin to have an experience with this market and have already managed to tropicalize, generating greater healthy competitiveness between them, obtaining more and more excellent results, generating more and more partnerships with service providers and increasingly benefiting players who will have the privilege of choosing the best place to bet. Certainly my company, Control+F5, will be one of those responsible for this combo of changes, since our interest is that all our clients develop correctly in the country and that we can grow together, obtaining the expected results.
At what point do you see the local gaming market in general and its evolution in 2021 from a political and regulatory perspective?
I believe we are moving forward year by year since legalization. Sports betting is becoming a trend among operators and among the Brazilian population, which is already much better at accepting this new practice. For the country, investments made by large companies only further demonstrate the potential of this market and how much regulation is urgently needed to help the country. But even with all this acceleration, the regulation will follow short and slow steps to be implemented, since with the election season approaching, next year this matter will be set aside a little so that all attention can be focused on who will govern the next years and the famous fight between right and left in that country. We need to let this turbulent era pass and then focus all our efforts on leveraging this regulation for the year 2023.
Were the results of your company's work this year as expected? Do you have plans in Brazil to grow and contribute more to the local market?
Control+F5 was already surpassing the expected results, working with marketing aimed at this area of gaming. With my entry into society this year, we started to elaborate the company's expansion towards a new business strategy, that of offering 360 solutions for Gaming companies that are new or already operating in Brazil. I believe that with this innovation and with our great experience in this market in Brazil, we will be able to contribute so that companies can align themselves with the Brazilian public and find the results they have been waiting for. BiS will be our start, the launch of this new project, hoping to create new alliances, and customers with a strong desire to grow and make it happen in the country.
In the most recent discussions about gaming activity in Brazil, the main players believe that the country is closer than ever to regulation. Do you share the same opinion? Do you believe it is possible to approve all game verticals in Brazil during this next year?
I believe that we have taken giant steps towards regulation, but I sincerely believe that next year will not be the year that regulation will be definitively formalized, precisely because it will be a troubled year because of the elections, where the government will be focused and restrained in its actions so that achieve their electoral objectives. However, I believe that depending on the government that is possibly elected, there may be a hurried anticipation by the current government to regulate the project so as not to be definitively vetoed by another government official or possibly let it be regulated in the year 2023 after elections and with calmer waters.
All about the Brazilian iGaming Summit (BiS)
Due to the health crisis, several events, trade shows and congresses had to be postponed or even canceled throughout 2020 and 2021; however, with the advance of immunization across the country, things are slowly returning to normality. Thus, the Brazilian iGaming Summit (BiS) will take place at Espaço Boulevard JK, in São Paulo, on December 1st and 2nd with the strategic partnership of Games Magazine Brasil, and will be attended by investors and entrepreneurs from diferente sectors such as sports betting, communication, affiliates, lotteries and regulators. For the first time, it will take place in a hybrid model, with real-time broadcasts and big screens spread throughout the conference space.
To ensure the safety of guests, event organizers will respect all recommended health safety protocols. With this, BiS will be the return point of in-person events for the gaming sector in Brazil and a great opportunity to connect entrepreneurs of the gaming market to the country's political personalities and actors involved in the regulation process. They will discuss and analyze what will be the next steps to pass legislation for the sector, and what are the trends for the development of this market in Brazil.
