Although Alberoni is officially presented this week in his new position, the Country Manager Brazil was already part of the group that worked with partners and potential clients at Betcris’ stand during the recent edition of SBC Latinoamérica Summit, together with Fernando Garita and the entire team that represented the company at the event in Miami.
He has been involved in the gaming industry since 2009. He received his CBA in Sports Marketing and Management from IBMEC, following that up with post-graduate studies in Football Business from the Cruyff Institute. That led to Alberoni receiving his Master’s degree in Sports Management from the University of Lisbon.
In addition to his experience working with global gaming companies in Latin America and Europe, he is also a partner at VX Comunicação de Portugal and director of the Brazilian Sports Betting Association, ABAESP. Since 2014, he has managed Betzilian.com, a website specialized in sports betting news and content about Brazil and the world, in addition to hosting the Betzilian.Cast podcast and a weekly program on Youtube, Betzilian News.
Betcris was one of the first online betting companies ever created. It was founded in 1985, combining online betting services with face-to-face service in various locations throughout Latin America. Today, Betcris is NFL and MLB sponsors for Latin America (with the exception of Brazil), as well as of the national teams of Ecuador and Mexico.
Alberoni will work alongside many of the top leaders at Betcris, including CEO JD Duarte, who was chosen as the Leader of the Year in the SBC Awards Latinoamérica, Gabriel Nuñez del Arco, Fernando Garita, Carlos Soto and more. Together, they will be able to shape the progress of the regulation of online gambling and sports betting in Brazil.
The executive will be responsible for leading the brand's work, with a dedicated focus on the Brazilian market and with the objective of reinforcing Betcris' digital presence in Brazil, by creating an increasingly localized and personalized product for the local public.
Due to its extensive experience at the local level, Alberoni accredits that regulation is in the final phase of adjustments and Brazil will have its regulated market before the World Cup Qatar 2022: “Due to its magnitude, this type of event can exceed 90% of the betting volume at that time.”
“I have no doubts that due to its dimensions, Brazil may be one of the 5 great players in the world in the coming years in terms of sports betting. It only needs this sector to reach the necessary maturity. But the opportunities are huge," says Angelo.
In a market that is super competitive with more than 450 betting sites operating, Alberoni has a clear role and central objective of his task: “Betcris will position itself intelligently, identifying the best opportunities so that we can show the Brazilian customer what the rest of Latin America already knows.”
Adds Alberoni, “Betcris is booming, and Brazil is one of the main targets for next year. Our brand enters all markets with the aim of leading the sports betting segment and, with Brazil, it will not be different.”
Betcris is one of the best known bookmakers in Latin America, and has recently started to expand its business to Brazil. The ‘CRIS’ present in its name is actually an abbreviation of Costa Rica International Sports, being the most famous sports betting company in the country.
The company offers safe and legal betting options for major sporting events, as well as horse racing and casino games, in permitted locations worldwide, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
With so many years of experience in the market, Betcris knows that the sports betting market in Latin America continues to grow. And it was one of those responsible for this growth. In countries like Peru, El Salvador, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Dominican Republic and Ecuador, the brand has more than 100 agencies where people can place their bets in person.
