Pay4Fun stands out in the Brazilian scenario in the gaming area both for its safe and fast tools to guarantee immediate banking transactions, as well as for the innovations that have always been the company's trademark. Leonardo Baptista, CEO of Pay4Fun, says that the moment would not be more favorable for the realization of the Brazilian iGaming Summit. "We had a long period of distance from major events due to the pandemic, and we are looking forward to the "one on one" to see partners and friends here in our house, which for us will be a great privilege."
But it is not just the period of 'seclusion' caused by the pandemic that makes Baptista excited. According to him, "the market is super mature in several countries and it bears fruit in multiple platforms, especially in plural and accessible entertainment and in the economic spheres, since this sector unfolds into a giant ecosystem of income generation and capture in both the individual, collective and governmental point of view, which makes BiS extremely important to bring the debate back to the stage of events.”
“It is also important to highlight the gigantic relevance that the event has and the echo that it reverberates throughout the gaming chain here in Brazil, which, I believe, is taking great steps, finally, towards the official regulation of the sector,” he points out.
Baptista admits the slowness of the entire gambling regulation process in the country and understands this is natural, especially in an activity like this, as well as the lack of support from the mainstream media.
According to him “we had peaks of great movements and periods of stagnation. The press, especially the Globo conglomerate, failed to promote this issue as it should, and this lack of media 'relevance' was contributing to an even greater slowdown in the process."
Now, however, the executive sees exactly the opposite. "The press in general, and particularly the Globo conglomerate, had a major turnaround and started to see the regulation of the gaming sector in a much more positive, even auspicious, perspective."
For this reason, he says that “an event like BiS sheds a light of relevance to the theme that will allow for an intense, focused debate, taking the right paths. “I believe that BiS will contribute in a unique way to paving this final stretch towards the legalization and formalization of 'lucky' games - and not games of chance - in the country.”
In his opinion, the specialized media knows all the nuances of the activity and is not tied to speculation, which guarantees really important content for other media, as well as a programmatic event such as BiS, which is willing to debate issues inherent to the sector in a professional way. "All of this will help even the mainstream press to understand better what we are talking about when we mention jobs, taxes, income generation and the need to legalize to protect and control," he says
The big taboos and prejudice about the sector are getting smaller due to the performance of the specialized media and events in the sector. “Before, there was a shallow and grotesque association of the gaming universe with money laundering, as if offenders needed yet another regulated sector for deceit. Today, those arguments no longer work and I always like to remind that beauty salons, the food chain, laundries - pardon the pun - and so many other segments are so much less targeted and susceptible to this type of resource laundering that it is laughable to place the gaming sector as a great villain and promoter of the practice,” he compares.
Baptista, says that “the regulation of the gamng sector in Brazil means not only the legal resumption of a segment that was marginalized without the slightest purpose, but mainly in this sensitive economic moment that Brazil and the world is going through, it means opportunity! Through this regulation, which I really believe is very close to being consolidated, I see a series of doors opening with many opportunities to generate value.”
Finally, he disagrees with those who still point to addiction as an impediment to the legal establishment of the sector. “The compulsion is real, it spills over in many different ways and it's not the fact of multi-sphere games that will aggravate this problem. Mainly, because there are mechanisms and dynamics that stop or at least prevent this type of practice. These adverse arguments seem more like excuses for people who do not want to see a new and promising sector flourish in the country and generate a movement of gains for everyone and in various aspects, especially the economic one,” he concludes.
All about the Brazilian iGaming Summit (BiS)
Due to the health crisis, several events, trade shows and congresses had to be postponed or even canceled throughout 2020 and 2021; however, with the advance of immunization across the country, things are slowly returning to normality. Thus, the Brazilian iGaming Summit (BiS) will take place at Espaço Boulevard JK, in São Paulo, on December 1st and 2nd with the strategic partnership of Games Magazine Brasil, and will be attended by investors and entrepreneurs from diferente sectors such as sports betting, communication, affiliates, lotteries and regulators. For the first time, it will take place in a hybrid model, with real-time broadcasts and big screens spread throughout the conference space.
To ensure the safety of guests, event organizers will respect all recommended health safety protocols. With this, BiS will be the return point of in-person events for the gaming sector in Brazil and a great opportunity to connect entrepreneurs of the gaming market to the country's political personalities and actors involved in the regulation process. They will discuss and analyze the next steps to pass legislation for the sector, and what are the trends for the development of this market in Brazil.
