The bill now goes to Chamber

Senate approves transfer of 0.04% of lotteries in Brazil to Paralympic sport

In a symbolic vote, the Senate approved Bill 1953/21, by Senator Carlos Viana (PSD-MG), which allocates 0.04% of the collection of numerical prediction lotteries, such as Mega-Sena, to the Brazilian Committee of Clubs Paralympics (CBPC). The bill now goes to vote in the Chamber of Deputies.

According to current rules, the CBPC is responsible for promoting public policies for the Paralympic segment, starting to receive directly from Caixa Econômica Federal 15% of the funds allocated to the Brazilian Committee of Clubs (CBC).

However, this device would only be observed with the beginning of the collection of the Exclusive Instant Lottery (Lotex), which has not yet been implemented.

Faced with this uncertain scenario, senator Carlos Viana presented the Bill to guarantee the transfer of 0.04% of the numerical prediction lotteries to the CBPC. The bill was reported by senator and former player Romário (PL-RJ), who highlighted in his report that "prior to the entry into force of Law 14.073/20, the CBC had the obligation to apply at least 15% of its resources in sporting activities; however, in the absence of Lotex operation, the parasport has not received any lottery funds."

Now, the Bill is going to be analyzed and voted in the Chamber of Deputies. If approved without amendments, it goes to presidential approval. If the Chamber proposes changes to the bill, it will return for a conclusive vote in the Senate.
