Towards the Brazilian iGaming Summit

"AmuletoBet will show at BiS that sector regulation will bring growth and jobs to Brazil"

Thomas Carvalhaes, Brazil Director of Hero Gaming, will be present at the Brazilian iGaming Summit (BiS). The company sponsors the event and Carvalhaes will be part of a panel on sports betting. Responsible for implementing AmuletoBet in Brazil, he says that 'the brand was the best launch I've done in my entire career.' About the country, the executive says that the benefits of regulation will be immense and that 'Brazil is losing by turning a blind eye to an industry that already exists.'

AmuletoBet has stood out a lot in the Brazilian sports betting market and nothing more natural, in the current stage in which the company is, than participating in the Brazilian iGaming Summit. So much so that Thomas Carvalhaes, Regional Director Brazil at Hero Gaming, says that “unfortunately we had a long period of absence due to sanitary measures, but more than ever it is necessary that the betting market in Brazil be represented in an event of this size.”

According to him, awareness comes as a result of debates, conversations, challenges and paradigm shifts. "An event of this size, which manages to gather people with experience in the sector and those with political influence, as well as professionals from the most diverse sectors to talk and bring clarity, education and awareness about the benefits of regulation, is extremely important in this time," Carvalhaes states.

On the panel he will participate in (Sports Betting Operators), he intends to talk a little about the current stage of the activity regulation process from the point of view of the operation. “The time has passed to say that Brazil is a potential market. We have to say that the potential is being well explored by companies interested in investing in the market and offering countless benefits to the country. Brazil is losing by not regulating the sector and turning a blind eye to an industry that already exists,” he pointed out.

Carvalhaes is excited about the current moment and welcomes the sports betting regulation process. "Finally we see a great urgency on the part of those responsible to bring the regulation and taxation of betting until next year."

In his assessment, the regulation will ensure the growth of activity and new investments in the sector. So much so that he claims that the movement towards regulation has already allowed a good development of the market. “I launched AmuletoBet in 2021 and I say that it was by far the best launch I've made in my entire career. The return on investment was excellent and expectations are the best. Once the rules and the future of taxation regulation for gambling in Brazil are defined, the sector will still grow a lot,” he bets.

Carvalhaes said that the company has expansion plans in Brazil. "We are going to launch a new sports betting vertical focused on Brazilian culture to once again reaffirm our commitment to the regionalization of the brand."

As for the legalization and regulation of other verticals, such as casinos, Carvalhaes believes it will come in stages. “We still don't have a clear horizon of when this will happen. First, the regulation of sports betting will come out. And when the government understands the weight that this can have in the generation of revenue, taxes and jobs, it will certainly promote a more propositional debate for the legalization of other verticales,” he believes.

All about the Brazilian iGaming Summit (BiS)

Due to the health crisis, several events, trade shows and congresses had to be postponed or even canceled throughout 2020 and 2021; however, with the advance of immunization across the country, things are slowly returning to normality. Thus, the Brazilian iGaming Summit (BiS) will take place at Espaço Boulevard JK, in São Paulo, on December 1st and 2nd with the strategic partnership of Games Magazine Brasil, and will be attended by investors and entrepreneurs from diferente sectors such as sports betting, communication, affiliates, lotteries and regulators. For the first time, it will take place in a hybrid model, with real-time broadcasts and big screens spread throughout the conference space.

To ensure the safety of guests, event organizers will respect all recommended health safety protocols. With this, BiS will be the return point of in-person events for the gaming sector in Brazil and a great opportunity to connect entrepreneurs of the gaming market to the country's political personalities and actors involved in the regulation process. They will discuss and analyze what will be the next steps to pass legislation for the sector, and what are the trends for the development of this market in Brazil.
