GMB – We would like to hear from you, as one of the co-organizers of the Brazilian iGaming Summit, your final impression of the event.
Leonardo Baptista – I couldn't be happier. When we started talking and thinking about the event three months ago, we didn't imagine that quality. It was fantastic and showed, if needed, all Brazil's potential. It delivered what we wanted to deliver, which is “Brazilian Intelligence”. And for Pay4Fun it was simply sensational. We left with a lot of good deals on a phenomenal event.
Not just prospects, but consolidated businesses?
We left with a lot of business, in a market where we grow day by day. Today we have more than 250 partners and the trend is for a lot of growth in the gaming area, as many new people came to talk to us to close deals with Pay4Fun.
Beyond the congresso side, did it also contribute to the commercial success?
I was talking about it. Usually people are very concerned about the booth and the glare outside an event, leaving lectures and seminars aside. BiS, on the contrary, had fantastic panels, delivering all the “Brazilian Intelligence”. The two panels I made were fantastic as they helped to show the seriousness of the industry in our country and the technology available for the sector to grow with quality.
There was also the practical part, where regulation was discussed, with Secap, in addition to the deputies of the Gaming WG...
Of course, yes. The presence of authorities showed the seriousness of the market and how much closer we are. The lecture with the WG deputies was something very good to show the paths that are being followed to arrive at an adequate regulation aiming at the future of the sector in our country.
How do you see the progress of discussions for the regulation of all gaming verticals and what do you expect for 2022?
First, I'm very happy because I think everyone in the government has understood that it's no use doing something closed to just one vertical. They will open up for all other disciplines and that was wonderful news as it has to bring everything to light. If we close to a single market, we will continue to encourage illegal gambling in other verticals.
Regarding regulation, I think it will come out soon. We can almost feel it. I've been in this market for over 15 years and it's the first time I realize this will actually happen. I am very optimistic for 2022.
