Seminar will debate Legal Framework of Gaming and eSports in Brazil this Friday

The OAB/DF Gaming Law Commission will hold this Friday (17) its sixth seminar in the series “The Rules of Gaming”, in which it will debate the regulatory framework of the activity and electronic sports (fantasy sports and eSports). The webinar will feature, among others, the Federal Deputy Bacelar and the Secretary for Evaluation and Lotteries – Secap/ME, Gustavo Guimarães, with the mediation of lawyer Bárbara Teles, General Secretary of the commission. The event will take place by zoom at 11 am.

The OAB/DF Gaming Law Commission will organize next Friday (17), the 6th Seminar of the series “The Rules of Gaming”. The theme of this meeting will be “Legal Landmark of Gaming and Electronic Sports” (fantasy sports and eSports). The webinar will be attended by Federal Deputy Bacelar (Pode-BA), president of the Regulatory Framework WG in the Chamber of Deputies; Gustavo Guimarães, Lottery and Evaluation Secretary – Secap/ME; Rafael Marcondes, legal head of Rei do Pitaco; and Mariana Chamelette, regional coordinator of the Brazilian Institute of Sports Law. The debate will be mediated by lawyer Bárbara Teles, Secretary General of the OAB/DF Gaming Law Commission.

The theme is very current and it is possible that advances will take place very soon, with the potential vote on the Regulatory Framework in the Chamber of Deputies. In fact, urgente reques to vote is included in today’s Chamber agenda.

The intention of the panel is to address issues related to legal construction with authorities that are directly involved in the elaboration of regulations and are leading this movement.

The focus will be on electronic sports, known as Fantasy Sports and eSports, which already have a great impact worldwide and tend to be a growing market in Brazil. For this reason, the OAB/DF Gaming Law Commission sought industry experts to tell how they see this opportunity.

“I am very proud to moderate this panel, which will include representatives from the sector and public authorities,” announced Bárbara Teles, from the OAB/DF's Gaming Law Commission.

And the series is not over yet. Next week, the organization will hold the last webinar of the year, which will debate “Compliance and Responsible Gaming Practices.”
