GMB – What were your impressions of the Brazilian iGaming Summit?
Angelo Alberoni – Congratulations to the event and it exceeded my expectations. I found many friends that I hadn't seen for a long time and I also see that many professionals came from abroad. We were able to see that important media groups that didn't believe in the sports betting and gambling industry in general were looking for information. I also saw banks at the event and for Betcris this is all very important. Brazil is a huge market and Betcris is focused on expanding our brand in the country next year. So increasingly, with Betcris' leading presence in Latin America, being in Brazil makes perfect sense.
Brazil is a large market and we want to be protagonists, as we are in Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and in all the countries in which we operate. I take this opportunity to thank GMB and all its partners. For us, professionals in the Brazilian industry, it is important to increasingly connect the players and stakeholders of our iGaming universe in Brazil.
And how to be this protagonist, which Betcris already is and intends to continue being in Brazil?
Betcris has over 20 history. We are present in over 18 markets, with a very robust product and a very strong brand that is always remembered by punters. We have an interesting brand presence due to the strategy we have built over the last two years and with Ronaldinho Gaúcho as our ambassador. So Betcris is ready to create a marketing and product strategy for Betcris to be like it is in other markets. We are leaders where we operate and in Brazil it will be no different. We are going to seek the top 3 in the market and we are prepared to work with regulation and the mature Brazilian market in the coming years. Betcris is a brand with a lot of history, security in its DNA and seen by bettors as reliable for sports betting. This is the idea, to bring this Betcris DNA to Brazil and transform this into the success that is already happening in other markets.
We have two situations. One of them is “only” the regulation of sports betting. The other is the legalization of other gaming verticals. I would like you to make a parallel on these two themes and comment on how Betcris is currently positioned in Brazil, looking towards this future.
Today, we have sports betting as a reality. We have to take it one step at a time. Not only as a brand, Betcris, but the sector itself. We have the sports betting reality coming up in 2022. We must think about it and design our strategy. Of course we are listening and looking at what is happening in the political environment for the legalization of all verticals. That being so, Betcris has a gaming expertise. Sports betting is our core business, but we have gaming experience across all verticals. So, with the regulation, one, two or three years from now, for casinos and other traditional games, Betcris will position itself as one of the leaders in other segments, not only sports betting, but also casinos, lotteries and all verticals that come aggregated.
Let them come soon!
Of course. It is a desire not only mine, but the whole world, that Brazil enters this gaming scenario and transform itself not only in this potential market, but in a real one. With sports betting, I believe that the tendency is for this to happen in a short universe of time for our country.
Sports betting companies carry other games in their own DNA...
Of course. Sports betting is an excellent gateway. It is an extremely heated market, especially from an advertising point of view. There are many huge players like Betcris, acting from an online betting point of view. The regulation will bring a lot of clarity to the Brazilian public. It will help to dispel this myth that sports betting or gambling is harmful. It is entertainment and not an activity that could put its user at risk. Quite the opposite. The activity is already widespread in almost every country in the world from a regulatory point of view and for Brazil it will be no different. It will be the great gateway for the next verticals to enter Brazil smoothly.
