The agreement was announced by President Sérgio Santos Rodrigues, who posted the deal on his Instagram. He participated directly in the negotiations until the partnership was sealed. The bookmaker will pay BRL 5 million (USD 890k) to the club for the agreement without bonuses.
With variable revenue, the tendency is for the club to have higher income in the future. As determined by Super.FC, the club will pocket 60% of the amount billed by the betting site with the partnership.
In addition to Cruzeiro, PixBet has made heavy forays into the market. With Bahia, the value of the deal is BLR 6 million (USD 1.05m) and for Flamengo, BLR 16 million (USD 2.8m).
Through social networks, Cruzeiro played with the official profile of the bookmaker, by posting: “Nação Azul, in 2022 we are going back to where we should never have left! Do you want bet?”. PixBet's profile responded: “We bet yes! Let's go. Come on, Cruzeiro!”.
The club continues to look for new partners to enter 2022 with cash to fulfill its commitments with athletes and employees and also pay the transfer ban, of more than BLR 15 million (USD 2.65m).
Cruzeiro will join other clubs that are already sponsored by the betting site. América, Avaí, Goiás, Juventude, Ponte Preta and Vasco already stamp the company's brand on their uniforms.
