The opening panel of this year's EGR Power Latam will address the current scenario of the gaming sector in Latin America, strongly impacted by COVID-19, and the migration that the activity promoted to the online model. Panelists will discuss the positive aspects for 2021 and how accessibility and adaptability will be important for success this year. Kambi is sponsor of this year's EGR Power Latam.
At 5:15 pm takes place the panel on Brazil, with the suggestive title “Gaining momentum: Will 2021 be the year for Brazil?”. As the country is said to be potentially one of the largest gaming markets in the world once regulated, all eyes are still on Brazil.
Advances in the country in 2020 will be pointed out, such as the decision of the Brazilian Supreme Court to end the federal government's monopoly in lotteries and the direction of the regulation of the Sports Betting Law (Law No. 13756/2018). The panel will ask if these issues indicate a real change in the near future. Panelists will discuss what is still at stake for Brazil, including tax rates, regulation of the law and an analysis of the pandemic impacts on the country.
Participating in the panel on Brazil are Alessandro Valente, iGaming specialist in Latin America and co-founder of Super Afiliados; André Gelfi, Managing Partner of Betsson Group Brasil; and Thomas Carvalhaes, of Hero Gaming. Moderates the meeting Witoldo Hendrich Júnior, founder and partner of Online IPS and Hendrich Advogados.
“Having space to talk about the Latin American market at an event of this size is extremely important. Online gaming is a trend in the region; we obtained a license in the province of Buenos Aires, while Chile and Peru discuss the regulations. The latest public updates indicate that here in Brazil, it should be in July this year. We see a favorable context for this regulation to happen in the short and medium term” , Gelfi explains.
The EGR Power Latam, which will have about 15 industry professionals, is an exclusive event and open to a selected group of guests and sponsors, with prior reservation.
