GMB- With what expectations do you start the year, after a very difficult 2020 affected by the pandemic?
Sven Kaltenegger - 2020 was indeed a challenging year and a year which showed us of how we as mankind can and need to work closely together to overcome obstacles. This of course can only be achieved if we all work and support each other! For LeoVegas safety of both employees and customers was and is always highest priority and at no point we as a company took advantage of this, on the contrary giving extensive support in these difficult times. 2021 just started but we are already seeing a positive trend with regards to vaccination having been rolled out and hope for a return to normality in the near future.
Is the company now better prepared to face the outbreaks or the continuity of the pandemic? Will there be a change in strategy?
We of course needed some time like everybody else throughout the industries to adapt to the change on local restrictions and different laws around the world but ensured from the early beginning to look out for our employees and customers thanks to a planned and thought through action plan which is enforced until today. It was also common for LeoVegas employees to already having a remote working possibility in place, which also allowed us to adapt very fast.
What projects / ideas are you working on to launch this year?
LeoVegas take pride in its customer friendly, safe, reliable, and fast platform technology and will of course continue investing into optimizing our products further. Nevertheless, in 2021 we will be seeing big synergies and alignment between our various brands withing the LeoVegas Group.
Do you imagine that the penetration of online gambling would deepen as long as the land-based sector maintains limitations of public due to the pandemic?
The land-based sector historically has a big influence in the gambling industry and will also in the future play an important role. The online industry enjoys an increase due to the change in technology also before the pandemic but of course the course of this tragic event increased the pace of mobile gambling.
Do you think that for Brazil this year there will be a definitive take-off towards a regulated gambling market? Will your company's presence / investment grow in the country throughout 2021?
A regulation for Brazil has been long in discussion and we, at LeoVegas, would of course welcome Brazil being regulated in a fair manner as it is our belief to only achieve a fair and compliant approach, also with regards to player protection once regulated mechanisms are in place.
