Sao Paulo federation wants to resume state’s football championship from March 31

The FPF (Sao Paulo Football Federation) announced that it plans to resume the ‘Paulistão’ from March 31st. The decision was taken at a meeting held by the entity, the 16 clubs that compete in the championship, and the Unions of Athletes, Referees and Coaches. 'The FPF and all participating clubs publicly reiterate that the ‘Paulistão Sicredi’ will be resumed from March 31 and the competition will end on the scheduled date, May 23,' said the Federation in a note.

The FPF also stated that, together with the clubs, it decided to suspend the holding of Paulistão's rounds 5, 6 and 7 during the emergency phase of the Sao Paulo Plan, with more restrictions in combating the COVID-19 pandemic. The emergency phase runs until March 30.

Collective sports activities, including football matches, have been suspended since last Monday (15) in the state of Sao Paulo.

According to the FPF, the games of the suspended rounds will be "rescheduled and published in due time."

"Faced with these suspensions, the FPF studied the reality of the clubs' calendar and presented it to the participants. Everyone agrees that efforts will be needed to adjust the schedule of the games."
