The FPF also stated that, together with the clubs, it decided to suspend the holding of Paulistão's rounds 5, 6 and 7 during the emergency phase of the Sao Paulo Plan, with more restrictions in combating the COVID-19 pandemic. The emergency phase runs until March 30.
Collective sports activities, including football matches, have been suspended since last Monday (15) in the state of Sao Paulo.
According to the FPF, the games of the suspended rounds will be "rescheduled and published in due time."
"Faced with these suspensions, the FPF studied the reality of the clubs' calendar and presented it to the participants. Everyone agrees that efforts will be needed to adjust the schedule of the games."
Statement of the FPF
The Paulista Football Federation, the 16 clubs of ‘Paulistão Sicredi’, the Unions of Athletes, Referees and Coaches met virtually this Monday (23). Below, the deliberations of this meeting:
- The Paulista Football Federation and the 16 clubs unanimously decided to suspend the holding of the rounds of the Emergency Phase in the State of Sao Paulo, specifically of rounds 5, 6 and 7 of the competition, whose games will be rescheduled and published in due course;
- In view of these suspensions, the FPF studied the reality of the clubs' calendar and presented it to the participants. Everyone agrees that efforts will be needed to adjust the scheduling of the games;
- The FPF Medical Committee, composed of professionals from the federation and clubs, reiterates the security of the health protocol prepared and approved by all the competent bodies;
- The FPF and the clubs, through their Communication and Marketing departments, will meet with the purpose of intensifying the campaigns related to hygiene care, social isolation and vaccination, aiming to amplify the information on sanitary measures to fight the pandemic;
- Finally, the FPF and all participating clubs publicly reiterate that ‘Paulistão Sicredi’ will be resumed as of March 31 and the competition will end on the scheduled date, May 23.
