Sao Paulo Football Federation announces Brazil's largest virtual state tournament

Organizer of the largest and most traditional State football championship in the Brazil, the Sao Paulo Football Federation announces the E-Paulistão, PES 2021 competition that promises to take the Sao Paulo rivalry to the world of games. In the first phase, E-Paulistão will be played by teams that work in the traditional state’s tournament ‘Paulistão’. For this, FPF collaborated with the development of eSports in each club, ensuring balance to the virtual football championship.

In the second stage, scheduled for H2 2021, E-Paulistão will include all 48 teams playing the three main series (A1, A2 and A3) of the State, giving the competition numerous possibilities for disputes. That is, in addition to a new era of classics, the other teams enter the competition with chances of raising the cup.

“We want to give fans experiences that go beyond the rolling ball. ESports are a reality, and we are encouraging clubs to embrace new segments that can engage fans and, consequently, generate values ​​and opportunities for their brands,” says Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos, president of the São Paulo Football Federation.

To put the virtual competition into practice, FPF entered into a partnership with the agency 7WPlay, which will be responsible for the entire realization of E-Paulistão. With expertise in some of the main virtual football initiatives in Brazil, the company understands that the model chosen by FPF will have a great impact on the competitive scenario of games in the country.

“We see in E-Paulistão the chance for the Federation of Sao Paulo to engage all its audiences and expand its reach and, of course, its range of sponsors. Football game lovers today represent a growing community. Establishing roots with this audience puts the FPF brand in line with the wishes of the next generations of fans, who do not want to limit their relationship to the games and sports news,” explained Felipe Carvalho CEO of 7WPlay.

The FPF virtual competition will offer several new features. In addition to its own calendar with four trophies in dispute and games to be held throughout 2021, E-Paulistão wants to contribute to the development of the modality with vacancies in the teams filled by anyone who wants to be part of a team.

“Each team will be represented by a professional and a player who is still anonymous, who will win his place through the tryouts. It is the fulfillment of the fan’s dream of wearing his team’s shirt, something that has always been in the popular imagination,” added Carvalho.

Registration for fans started yesterday (24) and will run until April 15, through the website
www.e-paulistao.com.br. The online trials will be held from March 27 to April 18. The group stage will run from April 21 to May 14. On the 20 and 21 of May, the classifieds will face each other in the playoffs, which will point out the finalists who will duel on the 24th of the same month.

The E-Paulistão games will be broadcast online on FPF's Twitch and YouTube channels. The finals will be decided in face-to-face events, respecting the sanitary rules for combating COVID-19.
