Paraná Pesquisas published this Monday (29) on its website the complete poll on the regulation of gambling in Brazil, and the result is encouraging for the sector, since 58% of the interviewees are in favor of legalizing all the betting modalities in the country.
The survey included telephone interviews in 194 municipalities in 26 states and the Federal District. 986 men (47.3%) and 1,100 women (52.7%) were consulted, 23.6% of respondents with higher education. The age group of 45 to 59 years was the widest (25%), followed by the age group of 35 to 44 years (20.9%) and 25 to 34 years (20.7%). The degree of confidence in the survey is 95% for an estimated margin of error of approximately 2% for the overall results. Of the total, 898 people were interviewed in the Southeast, 559 for the Northeast, 320 people in the North and Midwest and 309 interviews in the South.
Men (65.4%) with secondary education (61.4%), economically active population (60.2%) in the North / Central West Region (61.3%) were the most favorable to legalization, in the opinion poll public meeting held in Brazil with the objective of consulting the population on the topic, hired by Mago Assessoria de Comunicação Social Ltda.
The stimulated question on all modalities (‘After knowing some information, would you say either for or against the legalization of ALL gambling in Brazil, that is, the legalization of casinos, jogo do bicho, bingos, and online gaming?’) received votes against only 35.1% of the interviewees. In this question, the highest range of approval for the legalization of all types of gambling was among men between 16 and 24 years old (68.1%) and between 25 and 34 years old (62%).
The survey points out that 41.2% of people responded that they are indifferent to the installation of casinos in any location, while only 14.3% said that they should be only in integrated resorts.
The bingo halls are approved by 50.8% of the people interviewed, while the jogo do bicho must be regulated for 47.8%. Paraná Pesquisas’ study pointed out that 53.4% of respondents believe that the jogo do bicho is not related to crime and that if the activity is legalized, that crime will decrease (43.5%).
The video bingo and video slots are approved by 48.8% of the population, while 53.9% supports the legalization of online gambling. Regarding the position of some deputies and senators who argue that games of chance are a source of funds for the payment of emergency aid during the COVID-19 pandemic, 56.8% of respondents were in favor of the measure.
