There are also other possible candidates in the dispute, such as Sergio Moro, Ciro Gomes, Luciano Huck, João Doria and João Amoêdo - all with very distant odds from Bolsonaro and Lula, not least because none of them have the official application.
The choice of president has not yet been officially announced by the TSE, but it should happen, as usual, in October, in two rounds, if an absolute majority is not already obtained in the first vote. With the exception of Jair Bolsonaro, who has already publicly announced that he will seek re-election, there is still no confirmed candidate.
The contestants will be known between the second semester of 2021 and the first semester of 2022, but there are already several pre-candidates who start their movements with a view to the election. Since the current format of the elections was adopted, all presidents who sought re-election have been successful, and this makes the current incumbent one of the favorites according to bookmakers.
With odds of R$ 1.87 to 1 on Bumbet, Bolsonaro will define in the coming months which party he will run for the election, and this may influence both his support base and his time in the free electoral schedule.
If Bolsonaro has not yet defined what his caption will be in 2022, former President Lula still depends on a confirmation of the judicial decision that restored his eligibility.
If the STF keeps the release for Lula to participate in the campaign, the tendency is that he gathers a good part of the voters of the opposition parties - and this justifies the odds of R$ 1.87 to 1 in case the leader of the PT returns to power. It would be his sixth participation in presidential elections.
The former Lava Jato judge and former justice minister is one of the campaign's major unknowns, as he currently works in the private sector and has no party affiliation. With odds of R$ 13.00 for 1 on Bumbet, he has not yet declared his intentions for 2022, but his possible entry into the dispute is monitored by all other competitors.
Odds of possible presidential candidates in 2022:
Jair Bolsonaro: odds of R$ 1.87 for 1 if elected
Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva: R$ 1,87
Sergio Moro: R$ 13,00
Ciro Gomes: R$ 19,00
Luciano Huck: R$ 23,00
João Doria: R$ 31,00
João Amoêdo: R$ 31,00
