eSports championships are places for players to get together, show off their skills, make friends and meet the professionals they admire. The industry grows with these events, revealing how millions of fans connect to watch the best in the world fight for that long-awaited GG!
Championships planned for 2021
The World eSports Convention is probably the oldest and largest in the industry, which emerged in 2003 to focus primarily on FPS. The competition has evolved a lot since its creation and includes championships of different genres, in addition to several events organized around the world. Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Call of Duty are still two of its main stars.
And since we are talking about popular games, Fortnite will also return with its World Cup, and should continue as the world championship with the largest number of players ever registered. The rules have not yet been released, but if they repeat last year's regulation, anyone can participate. Emphasizing that the prizes totaled more than 30 million, giving the opportunity for aspiring professionals to show their skills and still receive a great reward for being the last survivor!
Bringing the subject to Brazilian lands, CBLOL has also been going on since the 16th of January and runs until the 18th of April. In addition, three Valorant championships were promised by Riot Games: Challengers, Masters and Champions, the latter being a dispute at the end of the year in which only the best teams will compete.
Many other game championships should take place, including Dota 2 DPC, Dreamhack, Evolution Championship Series, Fifa eWorld Cup, Intel Extreme Masters, Overwatch League Grand Finals, Pokémon World Championships, StarCraft II World Championship Series and World Cyber Games.
If you like to compete or just keep up with the competitive scene, stay tuned also at the regional game championships. Every week, GamersCard Club members can participate in exclusive eSports tournaments. In this club, GamersCard customers have many more advantages. Most anticipated releases of the year
But not only in the competitive scenario does the gamer live and the new PS5 and Xbox Series S / X have created possibilities that only the latest technology can offer! Some releases have been announced for this year, with titles awaited from major franchises promising to make the best of the hardware capabilities of these consoles!
One of the most anticipated games on the PS5 is Horizon: Forbidden West, bringing protagonist Aloy back to explore the remnants of an ancient civilization on Earth. Expectations increased among fans with the promise to take heroin through famous locations in San Francisco, USA, such as the Golden Gate Bridge and the Transamerica Pyramid. Game director Mathjis De Jonge guaranteed players a much bigger game than the first, taking advantage of the speed of the SSD that will be included in the PS5.
Hitman 3 was released on January 20, bringing Agent 47 back with a new twist: now you can wear his impeccable suits in VR too! The game has been announced for all major platforms, and chapters 1 and 2 of the franchise have also been promised with virtual reality compatibility.
Gran Turismo 7 is another one that promises to take advantage of the PS5's capabilities, with predecessors that have always been a console showcase. The game should maintain classic aspects that made the series popular and still enter the eSports scene with new features in multiplayer mode. We already know that world championships can bring legions of fans into the game and, even bringing back some fan favorite tracks like Trial Mountain and one inspired by El Captain, Gran Turismo 7 also wants its share of the competitive landscape.
Other important mentions are God of War: Ragnarok, Resident Evil Village, the remake of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Far Cry 6, Psychonauts 2, Persona 5 Strikers, Deathloop, Gotham Knights and the curious Lord of the Rings: Gollum. The latter is an unusual adaptation that brings a furtive gameplay to the skin of the controversial title character.
A practical way to not miss any of these launches is to use the GamersCard card and still accumulate points in the GamersPoints program.
