The objective, according to the text presented, would be to invest in educational, sports, cultural activities and preventive measures to reduce lutopathy.
If the law is approved, and the company that offers the service has a physical location, it is specified that the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Foreign Trade would have to develop a regulatory structure taking into account that 60% of the proceeds would go to the Provincial Municipality, where the betting house is located, and 40% would go to the District Municipality where the bookmaker is placed.
The bill ensures that in 2019 the sector obtained global profits amounting to 466.1 billion dollars.
In the case of distance sports betting or online, the tax would be distributed among all the provincial municipalities of the country.
Meanwhile, the Casinos and Slots Workers' Union has warned that the sector's losses have reached 2 billion soles since the pandemic began, while 10 percent of companies went bankrupt in recent months.
