The director of Urban Planning, Soledad Laguarda, began to work this week on the analysis of the plans, according to the local newspaper El Observador. After the analysis, the project will return to the company so that later it is sent to the Departmental Board.
"Fortunately, this project continues forward," said the mayor.
In March, the Mayor had anticipated some changes that the complex would have compared to the previous sketches, highlighting that the new plan proposes three towers vertically. This modification allows the company to carry out the work in stages, whereas the previous project required that the investment be carried out altogether.
The first phase is scheduled to be completed in the next three years and, in addition to the construction of one of the three towers, includes the work of the new hotel, the casino, the garages and the foundations of the entire work.
Grupo Cipriani had promised to present the project to the Maldonado Board at the end of March, as Antía had said in a radio interview, a deadline with which it did not meet.
In December, the government awarded Grupo Cipriani (company Fosara SA) the tender for the private casino conditional on the construction of a luxury hotel where the San Rafael hotel was located. The investment is US$ 450 million and, when it is ready, it will create 800 jobs.
