After Sao Paulo's deal, how is current presence of sportsbooks on Brazilian clubs

In yet another demonstration that it is attentive to the growth of sports betting in Brazil, O Globo published this week a report about the predominance of sportsbooks in Brazilian football, highlighting that 13 of the 20 clubs that will compete in Serie A and eight of the Serie B are being sponsored by the sector. With this, the main media group in the country recognizes the importance of a segment that grows more and more.

As Sao Paulo extended this month the sponsorship contract with Betsul, 13 of the 20 clubs that will dispute the Serie A 2021 have betting sites as partners. In Serie B, there are eight clubs. This important movement even occurs despite the fact that the activity carried out by gambling sites in the country is not duly regulated by the federal government.

“The trend is towards consolidation and popularization from the moment the practices are regulated,” says Hans Schleier, Marketing Director at Casa de Apostas, which sponsors Bahia and Vitória.

“We have entered a time when statistics have become entertainment. There is a generation that consumes football through games and that deals intensively with data consumption. These partnerships will certainly generate much more revenue for these media groups,” analyzes Bruno Maia, specialist in innovation and new business in the sports industry.
