Among all the participants, Corinthians leads the list of registrations, with 422 confirmed players, followed by Sao Paulo, with 385, and Santos, with 283 participants. Ferroviária (262) and Portuguesa (262) complete the TOP 5. Each of the 16 fans chosen for the E-Paulistão Torcida will pair with the 16 pro players who, in parallel, will compete in the E-Paulistão Pro, a championship that will involve only professional athletes from each club.
“The public understood the FPF's proposal and the search for E-Paulistão was a success, well beyond our initial expectations. We want to foster the growth of virtual football in Brazil, as we understand that the sport can be played, seen, and consumed anywhere and on any platform. Imagine how many good people cannot emerge from this innovative initiative and become a big name in eSports in the coming years,” said Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos, president of the Sao Paulo Football Federation.
The E-Paulistão with 16 teams is just the first stage of the project. In the second season, scheduled for the second half of 2021, the FPF will include all 48 teams playing the three main series (A1, A2 and A3) of the State, giving the competition numerous possibilities for disputes. The schedule with the games will be released in the coming days.
“The competition has everything to be a success and our idea is that, in the second half, we have space for more fans to participate in the initiative. Certainly, the entry of FPF in the scenario will be a growth factor for the sport,” added Felipe Carvalho, CEO of 7WPlay, FPF's partner agency in the organization of the E-Paulistão.
The games will be broadcast on the official FPF channel on Twitch, in addition to the entity's YouTube.
