“Brazil is one of our main markets and LSports is working on a few surprises for it”

LSports is a world-leading provider of real-time sports data, working with sports betting industry key clients since 2012. In an exclusive interview with GMB, CEO and co-founder Dotan Lazar describes the important growth that the Israeli company is experiencing in the market together with its recent launches and innovations. Lazar also reveals the strong interest of LSports in Brazil: “We know what Brazilians like to bet on and we’re working on a few surprises and some custom-made products.”

Dedicated to supplying highly effective control tools and data analysis, LSports mission is to consistently present game-changing solutions for the sports betting industry. Powered by a unique proprietary API technology, state-of-the-art sportsbook trading management services, innovative betting stimulating services, and 24/7 comprehensive and accurate sports data feeds, LSports is the one-stop-shop for your sportsbook data.

GMB - LSports is one of the companies that has grown the most in the last year. Could you tell the Brazilian and Latin American public what are the origins of the company and where is the firm based?
Dotan Lazar -
LSports is an Israeli family-based company. Its origins date back to 2011 when my brother, Ido, started working in the business, but it was in 2012 when my father and I joined. We recognized the value that the company could bring to the market and we decided to bet on it, which evidently was worth it.

As one of the world leaders in the provision of feed for real time betting, what scope of coverage do you offer? What do you attribute the spectacular growth increase of more than 90% compared to 2020?
In LSports we believe that everything is “coverage-able”, whether it’s traditional sports such as soccer, tennis and basketball, or special bets such as weather, politics or lottery. Currently, we’re offering one of the most comprehensive and fastest feeds in the market with over 60 sports covered and growing. Our monthly average of pre-match and in-play events has recorded massive growth this past year and during March 2021 it stood on 145,000 and 75,000 respectively which we see as an amazing achievement during one of the worst years for sports.

We believe in flexibility. We keep a keen eye on the trends and we’re constantly communicating with our customers. The pandemic challenged us to find more creative solutions and we worked hard to increase our coverage. We’ve added eSports, new special bets, focused on table tennis and added simulated tennis.

This year has come with several novelties for LSports. One of the main ones was the launch of Sports Trading Manager (STM). What are its main advantages and how did the market react to this innovation?
In its essence, STM is a unique and advanced trading system. The idea behind it was to create full automation and to relieve bookmakers of many of their tedious, time-consuming and costly actions. We pride ourselves on our technology and we see this product as a steppingstone to driving the industry forward. It has a lot of stock market functionalities and we’re planning on creating our own risk management. STM offers a lot of exciting features like complete control over margins, pricing, creating, and suspending odds, and creates the fairest value odds. We’re not stopping there, we’re also looking into expanding our coverage and services to new areas in the betting world such as stock markets, auctions and more. We already have dozens of customers using the product and many more joining as we speak.

The Tennis Betting Simulator is another of the great products of the company. How does it work and what advantages does it give to the operator / bettor? Is it possible to implement it in other sports in the short term?
We were the first to offer LVision’s Tennis Betting Simulator last year. It was made during the pandemic when many sports were on a halt, especially tennis. The simulator creates new matches from historical data, so it creates re-visualized matches with their original real-time odds and hides the original match information, so it won’t be recognizable. It offers endless tennis matches and promises that bettors will always have something to bet on. The technology is there, so implementing it on new sports is definitely an option but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

What other services do you offer and do you think would suit well the Brazilian and Latin American market?
Well, for starters we offer one of the largest sports data feeds in the business with the lowest latency possible. We cover over 60 sports, from the most popular ones (outright sports, soccer, basketball, tennis) to the most unique ones (eSports, weather, politics) over 2,000 markets. We also offer bet stimulation products, historical odds and more. I think looking back at our amazing growth during the past year says everything you need to know. We’re dynamic, we strive to stay one step ahead, we succeed, and we listen.

How do you feel in your brand new CEO position leading LSports? What business profile would you like to give to the company?
To be honest, there isn’t much difference between what I do now and my last position as COO. As a family, we are working together hand in hand and complete each other, with our main goal being helping the betting industry improve its offerings, accuracy, and costs. We perceive our workers and customers as our partners, working with us to build the best systems out there.

How do you analyze the Brazilian market? Do you already have an entry strategy? Due to the large size of this market, is it possible to imagine an LSports office in Brazil in the future?
Brazil is a great and challenging market to work in, being one of our main markets. We’re already planning to expand our reach to North and South America., We know what Brazilians like to bet on and we’re working on a few surprises as well with some custom-made products that we believe will make us stand out.

As a foreign company, do you eagerly await regulation in Brazil to better understand how to work with operators?
Regulation is something that we see more these days, in a lot of countries, worldwide. As an international company, we look at it as an opportunity to prepare, too, and expand with the market. We’re eager to see how it will affect our work in Brazil.

What plans and projects does the company have for the rest of 2021? How pandemic could affect them?
I think we’ve already proven we’re not affected by the pandemic, only driven by it. Because of it, we searched for new opportunities and products to fill in the gaps that made big changes in the industry, like simulated tennis, our unique feeds and more.

We’ve got some big plans for 2021. We’re aspiring to have more than 100 workers by the end of the year, perfecting the Sports Trading Manager, and adding many new features. Our feed is always growing and we keep looking for more fields to cover. We also have a few exciting deals we’re working on that we hope to be able to talk about soon.
