Chamber’ Special Commission wants to discuss transfers of Federal Lottery to Brazilian clubs

The special commission created by Brazil’s Chamber to discuss the Pelé Law will also deal with that of the principal. In addition, they intend to discuss the transfers of the Federal Lottery to clubs, confederations, and federations. According to the column by Lauro Jardim in O Globo newspaper, in the past Jair Bolsonaro sanctioned a Provisional Measure (PM), supported by several clubs including Flamengo, but which expired when it was not voted by Congress.

The deputies want to include the topic in the updating of the Pelé Law and, also, to prevent Bolsonaro from sending a new PM to the Chamber that is biased.

The Commission also intends to discuss the transfers of the Federal Lottery to clubs, confederations, and federations.

The Pelé Law created an objective regulation regarding the practice or exploitation of games of chance in Brazil, defining age range, form of administration, among other important definitions, according to an article by lawyers Bernardo Alvares and Christian Domenico De Luca.

“The Pelé Law lasted a short time, since in 2000 Law No. 9,981, of July 14, 2000 (Lei Maguito) was enacted and sanctioned by the then President Fernando Henrique Cardoso, who through art. 2º definitively revoked the authorizations for the operation of bingos in all Brazilian territory,” stated Bernardo and Christian.
