Cartola FC, Globo's 'fantasy game', is starting together with Brasileirão 2021 and many users across the country and abroad are already setting their teams on the game platform.
At Cartola FC, users only need to select 11 players each round in order to score the highest number of points in accordance with criteria such as goals scored, defended kicks, assists, yellow and red cards, etc.
With a limited budget, it is not possible to select only expensive players and when building the team, the choice must be made by knowledge about football and Brazilian players to find a strong team in each round and become one of the best in each season.
Betfair Ambassador (official sponsor of Cartola FC) Rivaldo did not want to be left out and has already selected his team for the 1st Round basing his choices on players from Athletico Paranaense (3) and São Paulo (2).
The international bookmaker and Globo had already done business in April, when Betfair paid R$ 92.9 million to sponsor Brazil's matches in the 2022 Qualifiers. It was the first time that a betting company had paid to advertise on Globo. The brand also signed a master sponsorship contract with SBT for the Copa America broadcasts with exhibitions in games involving the Brazilian national team.
Betfair has already been investing heavily in South American football. The recognized brand has been an official sponsor of the CONMEBOL Libertadores and South American Cups since 2019. In Brazil, Betfair.net was present with advertising signs in the fields of Serie A and Serie B matches of the last Brasileirão. The company also has famous brand ambassadors, such as Brazilian players Rivaldo, Alex 10 and Portuguese Deco.
As each of the countries of South America deals with sports betting in a different way, Betfair preferred to be prudent and used the Betfair.net brand in games. That's because Betfair.net cannot be considered a betting site and simply describes in both Portuguese and Spanish what the two tournaments are. In Brazil, sports betting is legal, but the market is not yet regulated, so Betfair prefers not to associate its name with a betting site for the time being.
