Deputies Chamber Committee debates regulation of electronic sports in Brazil

The Sports Committee of the Chamber of Deputies promotes a public hearing today (Monday, 14), to debate the regulation and challenges of electronic sports in Brazil. The initiative of the debate is of deputies Hélio Lopes (PSL-RJ), Felipe Carreras (PSB-PE), Julio César Ribeiro (Republicanos-DF) and Luiz Lima (PSL-RJ). The meeting will be held in plenary 11, at 2 pm with live broadcast on the e-Democracia portal.

The Chamber of Deputies will hold a debate on the regulation of eSports and the challenges facing the activity in Brazil. The meeting will be chaired by House’ Sport Committee and, among the guests, is Daniel Cossi, president of the Brazilian Electronic Sports Confederation, who in a recent interview with GMB highlighted the growth of the sector in Brazil.

The deputies who proposed the debate emphasize that this market grows exponentially every year, with the emergence of international game competitions such as League of Legends, which is played on the computer. "As a result, there is an exchange of information and culture from all over the world, directly and indirectly connecting the five continents," they say.

Parliamentarians claim that the activity brings benefits, such as improving the memory, motor and reasoning capacity of practitioners. "This is a topic, therefore, relevant to the country's economy, sport and education."

The CEO of the International e-Sports Federation, Paul J. Foster.
