Betano seeks to expand further in Brazil, negotiates master sponsorship from Sao Paulo

There have been more than three months of searching for a master sponsorship for São Paulo. A few dozen companies have already talked to the president Julio Casares and the marketing director, Eduardo Toni. Right now, the hottest contacts are with Amazon, LG and Betano. Recently, the European bookmaker became the master sponsor of Atlético-MG and Fluminense. Before that, it had already closed an agreement with Braga, Marítimo, Olympiacos, Paok, among others.

The first two firms in negotiations, by the way, have already guaranteed some money to the ‘Tricolor’ recently. LG paid R$ 1 million (US$ 197k) for the punctual sponsorship in the final of Paulistão championship, won against Palmeiras.

Amazon, on the other hand, disbursed R$1.5 million (US$ 295k) for three games: one already played, the last in the group stage, and another two in the Libertadores round of 16, against Racing, on July 13th and 20th.

The big news in the relationship is Betano, one of the most respected bookmakers in the market. Recently, the company became the master sponsor of Atlético-MG and Fluminense. Before that, it had already closed an agreement with Braga, Marítimo, Olympiacos, Paok, among others.

"We're not close to signing with any of the three yet. But there are conversations," reveals a source at the SPFC.NET Blog. São Paulo is in a hurry but insists on reaching at least R$ 16 million (US$ 3.15m) for a one-season deal - Banco Inter, former partner, used to pay R$ 12 million (US$ 2.35m) a year.

Betano is an international online sports betting platform from Kaizen Gaming, a group that, in addition to Brazil, is also present in Portugal, Germany, Romania, Greece and Cyprus. In the country, the brand is the official sponsor of Cariocão 21 and master of the Atlético-MG and Fluminense club.
