Sweden’s Administrative Court has repealed a decision taken in June 2020 by the country’s gaming regulator, Spelinspektionen, to fine Betsson Nordic SEK20m (US$2.4m).
According to the SGA, Betsson Nordic Ltd had violated the bonus regulations, but had also failed to register agents who sold gambling vouchers.
The SGA decided to issue a warning as well as a sanction fee of SEK 20 million (US$2.4m). The sanction came as a surprise for Betsson that therefore appealed the ruling.
According to the Administrative Court, the SGA lacks legal grounds for its decision in both cases and the judgement has therefore been revoked.
SGA can still overrule the judgement to the Court of Appeal.
