The executive at Copag, a Grupo Cartamundi company, highlights in the document that “the new normal is actually the proposal for a new standard of behavior” and that Copag “has gone through and continues to undergo this process of change.”
Among the measures facing the “new normal”, Copag reinforced the concept of #maisjuntosdoquenunca e #evoluirjuntos (#moretogetherthaneverand #evolvingjoints), adopting some understandings that were extended to the entire team: “Our answer: everyone in the same direction. We were challenged with social distance and new skills were required, such as agile profile, discipline, resilience and adaptability to efficiently combine the personal and professional worlds.”
In view of this, Copag admits that it had no practice in “home office” work and that, therefore, “it went through an adaptation process in which it provided the necessary conditions for our employees to continue with their activities from home. Among the measures adopted, we highlight the flexibility of benefits such as food stamps and meal stamps; availability of resources for work, such as chairs, computers, monitors and notebook supports; change in the way of appointment of the journey according to the rules of the CLT.”
At the same time, Copag launched the Copag x Corona blog, with the aim of strengthening internal communication. "Furthermore, to get around the feeling of loss of daily contact with co-workers a little, we started to use online communication platforms frequently, keeping in touch even if remote."
Looking ahead to 2020, Copag states in its Social Report that “we can say that we have gone far beyond observing the market and understanding trends. We are proud to say that our people exceeded all expectations, because our employees are proud of what they do. Differences in personalities, temperaments, origins and ideas did not make Copag lose focus, but rather achieved surprising results.”
In order to face the COVID-19, Copag has adopted several measures of concern with the health and well-being of employees and their families. Among the actions, the cancellation of in-person meetings, travel, training and works, home office for the entire administrative team, communication plan and the creation of the Crisis Management Committee.
New practices with innovation were also adopted, aiming at the continuous improvement of processes, such as the “Lean Philosophy” and “Kaizen”.
In the marketing area, actions were created to commemorate the “Day of Playing Cards”, a truco game tournament (in person and online), donation of Copag products to various institutions and social projects, sponsorship of lives and the Pokémon Latam Cup, among other actions. The company carried out a major campaign to encourage blood donation in Manaus, donating a thousand units of playing cards that were distributed to those who contributed to the donation.
In the area of social responsibility, in 2020 the company launched the Copag Ethics Channel, an independent and secure communication service through which it is possible to record reports on actions and conduct that are not in accordance with the ethical attitudes of the Group's companies.
Another action was to cultivate diversity, with actions and perspectives aimed at women (gender inclusion); LGBTI+ (inclusion of people with different sexual orientations); blacks (ethnic racial inclusion); generations (inclusion and synergy between different age groups) and PCD (inclusion of people with disabilities).
All actions were crowned by the new Copag identity and the launch of 26 new products in 2020, with different packaging formats, diversity of price ranges, established licenses and, in Copag's own definition: “guaranteed fun!”.
