“Having the opportunity to lead the eSports management of a team with almost 123 years of history, a record of many achievements, both on the pitch and outside it, especially behind the scenes in the pursuit of equality in sport, is a great honor and a huge responsibility to be able to live up to that weighty name,” said the former Rainbow Six Siege player who leads Black Dragons.
As happens in the eSports department of other football clubs, such as rival Flamengo, Vasco will hand over the electronic sport operations to Black Dragons. The club claims that no financial costs will be incurred.
“eSport is a US$1.5 billion market and has a track record of making many industries jealous. Players are celebrities, tournaments fill arenas and sponsors get closer every day. The audience for championships is greater than for football. We are no longer talking about the future, but the present,” assesses Vitor Roma, Vasco's marketing vice president.
Right in the first steps in eSports, Vasco reached the final of the PES 2021 eGol Pro with the promise Eduardinho, aged 16, as a highlight. The ‘Cruz-Maltino’, however, could not be crowned and saw Corinthians lift the trophy.
