Opening of Billionaire Casino signals new era in Ukrainian gambling

May 14 saw the reopening of the land-based Ukrainian casino sector with the unveiling of the Billionaire casino, located in the basement of the Intercontinental Hotel. The casino employs 150 staff, and is owned by the company with the same name; Billionare Casino Company, which was the first to receive a license in April this year. Gambling was banned in Ukraine in 2009 but legalised again in July 2020. Four more casinos are ready to open in the country.

Covering an area of ​​506 square meters, the casino is made up of five different gambling halls with 16 gaming tables, including blackjack, Russian poker, Texas poker, ultimate poker, three-card poker and roulette along side 50 slot machines from IGT, EGT and Novomatic and several VIP lounges for premium clients.

The casino employs 150 staff, and is owned by the company with the same name; Billionare Casino Company, which was the first to receive the license to open the casino in April this year. The cost of the license was US$13m. Gambling was banned in Ukraine in 2009 but legalised again in July 2020.

The opening of the Billionaire casino is the first of many to open. Anton Kucukhizde, Head of the Ukrainian Gambling Association, confirmed that four more casinos in Kiev, Lviv and Odessa are ready to open.
