Launch of a contest

Banco do Brasil embraces and sees eSports as "new volleyball”

Banco do Brasil (BB) announced on Wednesday (June 30) the launch of a contest to select a team of streamers for the bank's eSports platform. Named 'Stream Battle,' the action is another that reinforces the pioneering spirit of the state-owned company in the eSports segment, where it has been present since 2018, with the initial sponsorship of the Brasil Game Show fair and, currently, with several projects and services aimed at the gamer.

In a conversation with Máquina do Esporte, Victor Santarlacci, sports marketing analyst at Banco do Brasil, explained why eSports have become one of the bank's pillars today.

“For us, eSports is a strategic segment of the bank, because we see the universe of games and eSports like volleyball back then for the bank. It is a potential market that we are able to support and have positive results both for Brazil in terms of teams and streamers, as well as for a brand rejuvenation strategy that the bank has,” said Santarlacci.

"We believe that this universe is important for this," assured the executive, who says that he intends, in eSports, "to do the same thing he did with volleyball back then, with due differences in the modalities."

Santarlacci also commented on the competition with other banks in the dispute for the attention of the gaming universe. On Tuesday (29), Santander had already announced the creation of a credit line for the purchase of products related to the segment in Brazil, something that had been “launched” by BB.

“We are very pleased with other financial institutions entering. And it is proud to be the first bank to bring eSports into the sponsorship program. Competition is good for all companies and for the market as well. It is healthy and shows the potential that the gamer universe has. We are happy with the support and competition certainly makes this segment grow”, he concluded.
