The purchase of KaBuM! by the retail chain reinforces Magazine Luiza's entry into the eSports universe, being present in strategic rising markets such as Technology and Games. According to data from the holding specialized in eSports BBL, there are currently have 95 million gamers in Brazil.
Magazine Luiza's CEO, Frederico Trajano, says he is very excited about the acquisition: “With the purchase of KaBuM!, we consolidated ourselves as one of the leaders of formal Brazilian e-commerce and reinforced our presence in one of the fastest growing markets in the world -- that of products for geeks and gamers.”
“This level of profitability shown by Kabum is not common in e-commerce players, which shows the efficiency of the company's management. This shows that the firm is very much in line with Magalu's philosophy, which also presents accelerated growth with sustainable results,” commented Trajano.
In eSports, the KaBuM team has a consolidated history in the Leagus of Legends, as four-time national champion, in addition to being the first representative of Brazil in world championships. In addition, the organization also has Counter-Strike teams: Global Offensive, FIFA and Free Fire.
The future of the teams operating under the banner of the KaBuM organization has not yet been announced, it is not known for sure whether the retailer will maintain the teams in the long term for the good of Brazilian eSports.
