The city of Carazinho, in Rio Grande do Sul, may have its own lottery, depending on councilor Denison Costa, from the MDB. He wants to create a municipal lottery game as a measure to boost economic recovery in the post-pandemic and has already started feasibility studies for the contest.
According to him, it would be an alternative to increase the collection of the municipality and, at the same time, distribute premiums to the population, without the need to increase tax collection.
“For those who don't like to play a scratch card, for example”, quotes Costa. According to him, all the funds generated by the lotteries “go to the Union and never return to the municipality. If we have municipal lottery structures, which can be in the form of scratch cards and lottery tickets, a huge range opens. We can direct about 10% of the collection to actions aimed at health, social assistance and security, in addition to 2% of ISS that will be collected,” he said.
According to him, “the revenues will be applied directly to the municipality. We see a great demand for resources by health, which would be one of those to be met,” he commented.
The councilor's idea is to unite other municipalities in the region to work for a common project. “We were innovative and joined an association of municipalities, which will adopt the proposal. Let's try to work this idea together to ensure us a better consolidated structure to face this project.”
