At an extraordinary deliberative meeting held last Thursday (19), it was approved the request by Deputy Bacelar to hold a public hearing for discussion and approval of the regulatory framework for gaming in Brazil, which legalizes all modalities in the country, such as casinos, bingos, gaming machine, jogo do bicho and online betting.
“Approval of the regulatory framework for gaming is a requirement of Brazilian society. There is no society in the world, developed, rich and civilized, in which gambling is prohibited. In Latin America, only Brazil and Cuba do not allow the activity. We need to face this issue and that is why we are requesting this public hearing,” said Bacelar, justifying the application 63/2021.
According to him, there are many losses for Brazil for not having a regulatory framework for the sector. “The biggest harm is in the area of security, as those who play illegaly do not have any protection from the state and their protection as a consumer is guaranteed by law,” he said.
Bacelar defends all gaming verticals in Brazil and stated that “to fight corruption, we have to transform this activity into something legal to generate employment, income and resources for the government so that we can invest even in promoting tourism.”
Deputy Bibo Nunes (PSL-RS) gave his support and welcomed the initiative of Deputy Bacelar for requesting the public hearing and for the justification presented, as well as Deputy Otávio Leite (PSDB-RJ) who said the initiative was relevant. “The matter has been brought over for a long time, it passes mandate, passes the legislature and is left behind by obstacles that prevent it from being taken to the Plenary. The moment is promising for the Parliament to express itself on this issue.”
The application has been approved and will be invited to the meeting Gustavo Guimarães, Secretary of Secap/ME; a representative of the Brazilian Association of Resorts; the president of the Brazilian Jockey Club, Raul Lima Neto; Bruno Omori, president of IDT-CEMA; Magno José, President of the Legal Gaming Institute, and lawyers Régis de Oliveira and Daniel Homem de Carvalho.
