With Hard Rock and GLI, Secap organizes panel on IRs with casinos in Brazil

The Ministry of Economy's Secretariat for Evaluation, Planning, Energy and Lottery (Secap) will hold next Friday (27) -from 10:30 am to 12 noon- the panel “Integrated Resorts – International Experiences”, with the participation of Alex W. Pariente, Senior Vice President of Casinos and Hotels at Hard Rock, and Karen Marcela Sierra Hughes, Vice President of Latin America & Caribbean Gaming Laboratories International (GLI). The event takes place via the Microsoft Teams platform with prior registration.

With the initiative, Secap, an agency of the Ministry of Economy that deals with lotteries and sports betting in Brazil, clearly demonstrates the government's interest in the country's gaming activity. The moderator will be Gustavo Guimarães, Secretary of Evaluation, Planning, Energy and Lottery.

Amid the movements in the National Congress to resume discussions on a regulatory framework for gaming in Brazil, Secap will bring to debate about integrated resorts, talking about the international experience of the activity.

The meeting will take place on August 27, starting at 10:30 am via the Microsoft Teams platform and will be moderated by Gustavo Guimarães, Secretary of Secap/ME. The Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean of Gaming Laboratories International (GLI), Karien Marcela Sierra Hughes, and the Senior Vice President of Casinos and Hotels of the international chain Hard Rock, Alex W. Pariente, are participating in the event.

The webinar intends to shed light on the international experience in the area of casinos incorporated into large integrated resorts and how such a model could be applied in Brazil in the event of the approval of a regulatory framework for gaming that contemplates this type of activity.

GLI is a laboratory with a strong presence on five continents and is a global reference in gaming certification. It has been available to authorities from several countries in the process of regulating the gaming sector, including Brazil.

Hard Rock is one of the most renowned conglomerates of resorts integrated with casinos in the world. In Brazil, it has always shown interest in collaborating with the government, presenting its worldwide experience in the area, while at the same time giving a strong indication of its intention to invest in the implementation of casinos in resorts in the country.

The company is implementing the first Hard Rock Live in Brazil, in Florianópolis/SC, which will be the largest indoor concert and event venue for the Hard Rock International group in the world, with a capacity to accommodate 17,000 participants. The venue is designed to have the ability to simultaneously host up to 10 social events and one full show activation.

Discussions about the approval of casinos in large integrated resorts have gained momentum in recent days, with the appointment of Senator Vital do Rêgo as plenary rapporteur for Bill 4495/20, which deals with the expansion of tourism in the country through the implementation of resorts integrated with casinos, authored by Senator Irajá.
