Deputy Vermelho, who is part of a working group of the Tourism Commission in charge of updating the Regulatory Framework for Gaming in Brazil, intends to make necessary adjustments to the project because some articles were surpassed by new technologies that emerged during the years it was being processed.
"We are going to carry out the necessary studies to adapt the project to new technologies, make a replacement and streamline the procedure to see if we can approve it this year," said the deputy.
Large financial groups interested in these resorts integrated with casinos will only invest in capital cities with a large flow of people and good per capita income.
“For cities like Foz do Iguaçu and Gramado, for example, we intend to create tourist casinos with a large structure for games, a restaurant and an amphitheater. We will take advantage of the excellent hotel infrastructure that already exists, generate more jobs and development,” emphasizes Vermelho.
“An integrated resort, with about 3,000 rooms, would cause serious competition with the current hotel chain. “We believe that a casino of this size would have a negative impact on the local network, with bankruptcies and layoffs,” evaluates the deputy.
Consultation with leaders
Vermelho intends to bring together the city's leaders to hear the suggestions that will help support studies for the replacement of the project. “We want to hear from Comtur, Sindhotels, Acifi, Codefoz and other entities to carry out their aspirations and suggestions,” he adds.
Fundraising and jobs
The deputy explains that the Regulatory Framework for Gaming in Brazil does not regulate only casinos, but locally traditional jogo do bicho, betting machines in stadiums and jockey clubs.
“There is a previous study pointing out that the legalization of gaming in Brazil would bring an increase in revenue of more than R$ 20 billion per year, generating around 1 million direct Jobs,” concludes the congressman.
