Road show clears up doubts

Maranhão Parcerias President wants lottery as soon as possible, with several operators

At the road show held this Wednesday morning (4th), the president of Maranhão Parcerias, Antônio Nunes, explained to participants the model to be adopted for the implementation of Lotema - Maranhão Lottery. According to him, the public consultation period runs from August 5th to 20th, and on the 25th the accreditation notice will be published. 'We opted for the accreditation model and we will have several operators, with no regional or modality limit to be explored.'

Among those present at the road show, NGT stood out, which had its study partially accepted during the initial phase of the process, as well as major market players interested in the exploration of lotteries, not only in Maranhão, but in other Brazilian states, such as Intralot , IGT and Hebara.

Maranhão Parcerias intends to implement its lottery in the shortest possible time and, for this purpose, it has defined that the public consultation period runs from August 5th to 20th, with the objective of "collecting contributions for the improvement of the summoning instrument and its annexes whose object is the accreditation of concessionaires for the implementation and operation of games of the Maranhão State Lottery – Lotema.”

Antônio Nunes, CEO of MAPA – Maranhão Parcerias, recalled that NGT’ study was partially approved and will be the basis for the business modeling for the implementation of Lotema, but that the project will include multiple operators. "This will boost the collection and ensure greater capillarity, in addition to better quality of service," he said.

The accreditation of concessionaires will allow for simplicity in the process, transparency, speed and equality, according to the president of MAPA, who clarified that the concession will be for 20 years and intended for all those who pass the accreditation criteria.

We are not going to limit future operators to specific regions or by modality to be explored. This will allow for free competition between operators, with equal opportunities, greater capillarity and better service provision, for the benefit of the entire society in Maranhão,” MAPA’s president.

In his opinion, the accreditation of operators will allow for a simple and transparent process, while speeding up the implementation of Lotema.

The government of Maranhão intends that most of the resources obtained through the lotteries to be explored will be destined for education, while the amounts not claimed by the contemplated players will revert to the Maranhense Fund for Combating Poverty.

Antônio Nunes informed during the road show that the operation will be controlled through an independent audit by MAPA-accredited entities and that the value of the annual grant will be R$ 5 million, with a contract guarantee of R$ 100 million.

He expects that 400 to 600 new formal jobs will be created in the first year of operation of the Maranhão Lottery and that he has the collaboration of interested parties to make all inquiries as quickly as possible so that MAPA can respond in a timely manner to ensure the publication of the Notice on August 25th.

The deadline for the consultation is August 20th. We are being bold in giving a period of only five days for the publication of the notice, but we have this mission and intention. We have several professionals involved and focused on this demand, so we hope not to delay responses. The faster the answers, the richer the debate and the final text of the notice will be,” he says.

For him, the sooner the questions are presented, the better it will be for the entire process. "We ask everyone not to delay and present their questions as soon as possible, as we hope that Lotema will be implemented quickly so that the lottery will generate the resources foreseen for application in the social area of Maranhão, in order to help the state's recovery," concluded.
