Urgency approved for project to allocate federal lotteries resources to Brazil’s Tourism Fund

On Wednesday (1), the Chamber of Deputies approved the urgency regime for Bill 2380/21, by the Tourism Commission, which reformulates the rules of the General Tourism Fund (Fungetur) and directs resources from federal lotteries to it. The purpose of the Bill is to expand the sources of funds to modernize the law that deals with tourism incentives. The project can be voted on in the next plenary sessions.

Fungetur, linked to the Ministry of Tourism, has financial, budgetary and patrimonial autonomy, with the objective of guaranteeing and financing business projects and enterprises in the tourism production chain, considering their respective needs, life cycles and maturation.

The project authorizes Fungetur to act as financial support in the development of public policies considered a priority for the structuring of tourist destinations.

Among other sources of funds, the project foresees that part of the collection of the federal lottery and of the numerical predictions lottery will be destined to financing actions of Fungetur.

The share of lottery resources would be 3.48% of the proceeds of the collection of the federal lottery and 2.97% of the collection of the numerical predictions lottery.

Under the proposal, the federal lottery would have a reduction of prizes, currently at 60%, to 57%, while defending the reduction of the percentage destined to the COB, from 1.48% to 1%.

For the other lotteries (Mega-Sena, Quina, Lotofácil, Lotomania, Dupla Sena, Dia de Sorte and Super-Sete), the proposed reduction is 1.79 percentage points for prizes (from 43.79% to 42%) and 0.36 percentage point for the area destined to the COB (from 4.36% to 4%).
