“Brazil will be Betmaster’s main target market for the next two years”

Betmaster launched in Brazil this year with some positive results and nominee for the SBC Awards Latinoamérica. In an exclusive interview with GMB, Phil Kornyshev, Chief Growth Officer, states that “Brazil will undoubtedly take its place in the Top 3 world ranking of the sports betting vertical and, if not the first, will be one of main markets for Betmaster.” The executive reveals that they have deeply analyzed the local market with the support of Eightroom and Super Afiliados and tells of the firm's future plans for Brazil where they hope to obtain a license and invest.

Games Magazine Brasil - What kinds of products and services does Betmaster offer on a global level and what sets it apart from other operators? Could you tell us more about the origins of the brand?

- Betmaster is the flagship product of the Betmaster Group. If we compare Betmaster with industry leaders such as Betway, Bet365, Betsson, Unibet, then we can confidently say that we are in no way a lesser entity than they are in terms of product quality and variety of offerings. The market of igaming operators is quite competitive, and when someone has a unique feature that gains popularity among users, other companies immediately implement it. We are no exception, in that regard. We keenly follow and take advantage of the latest industry trends. But in order to have our finger on the pulse of an ever-changing market, it’s not enough to be a follower -- We lead. Our approach is visionary. Having our own platform and running all our operations in-house, gives us the speed and maneuverability to change as the different market climates, regulations and customers’ needs change. That is not about just having our finger on the pulse --- Our evolving and agile brand is the pulse. That agility is paramount to our success. That’s Betmaster.

We, at Betmaster, have always believed that development is the foundation. From our inception, in 2015, to our launch 2 years later, on the eve of the football World Cup, our employee numbers have increased exponentially. The one constant, and the key to our success, is that our development team still makes up 70% of our staff. Our journey has only just begun, but every milestone along that road has the carved stones of tangible and proven results. You have surely made an exhaustive analysis of Brazil before launching in the country. What conclusions did you draw from this market? What are your expectations?
Yes, of course, we have conducted an exhaustive analysis of our potential competitors and the market as a whole. In our opinion, this is one of the largest markets for our industry, and if we talk about the share of revenue, then we expect that next year Brazil will become, if not the first, then one of our main markets.

Brazil is a very special market with different features when compared to European countries or the USA. What does Betmaster plan for the local bettor?
We understand that Brazil is a completely new market for us due to the difference in the mentality of the local residents and the approach to working with clients. Nevertheless, having analyzed the market and hired a good team with an understanding of local specifics, and signed a number of large contracts with local partners, we are ready to take the fight to our competitors and prove to the users of Betmaster that we are the best in what we do.

Have you been able to establish the groundwork prior to launching? Is there any local or Latin American company helping you with this brand action?
Yes, of course, if we talk about Brazil, as we said earlier, we signed several large contracts with a number of local companies that joined us in capturing a significant market share. Such well-known companies as Eightroom and Super Afiliados are already starting on this challenging path together with us, and there are even more ahead. Follow our news.

 

 

Is it possible to regard Brazil among the most important markets in the world for the sports betting vertical?
I think yes, Brazil will undoubtedly take its place in the Top 3 world ranking of the sports betting vertical. This is already proven by the latest annual industry reports.

Where do you place Brazil and Latin America in general in the interests of the company globally?
Betmaster is in the process of acquiring full regulatory backing. We already have a license in Mexico and we look forward to further regulation in Brazil. We also believe that LATAM and Brazil will be our main target markets for the next two years.

Many websites catering for Brazil have invested in sponsorship of clubs, TV, championships, ambassadors, etc. What can we expect from Betmaster in that regard?
Our CEO and his principles, which are certainly shared by the whole Betmaster team, do not consider sponsoring football clubs economically viable. Understanding what budgets the operators spend on sponsoring football clubs, and you know it is tens and even hundreds of millions of dollars a year, we are more than interested to spend our budget on such things such as charities, support for the development of children’s sports, the organization of various holiday sports events, etc. We are already taking part in the framework of these events, and we are delighted to invite anyone, including football clubs, individual athletes, celebrities, bloggers and others to cooperate and participate. We are sure that this will be of great benefit to society and in the endeavour of giving sports some positive exposure.

Is the regulation process of sports betting in Brazil something that you closely follow? Do you think that when the process is open, Betmaster will try to obtain a license?
We are closely following the news in terms of regulation and have been working with consultants for a long time, keeping our finger on the pulse within the framework of this issue. We are interested in being the first to line up for a local license and we do our best for this.

Did the pandemic delay or modify the company’s plans to progress in the region?
We can say that Betmaster did not feel the effects of the pandemic and, accordingly, it did not consider a change in strategy, plans and budgets.

What can we expect, for the remainder of the year, after Betmaster launches in the Brazilian market?
Betmaster launched in Brazil in September of this year, but we have already achieved some positive results. Betmaster is one of the nominees for the SBC Awards Latinoamérica 2021 Rising Star. Until the end of the year, we will be working together with our partners and our valued and respected customers to make our product the best on the Brazilian market. But we expect 2022 to be a stellar year.
