The Group Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa will compete in a bid from the Government of São Paulo for the implementation, operation and exploitation of state lottery games. The 523-year-old institution operates in the lottery market in Portugal and reverts part of the revenue to social and cultural projects. For the competition, the group must propose campaigns for the population to bet moderately.
Santa Casa de Misericórdia Games Department's main objective is to create the necessary conditions to channel the demand for games to the provision of social games in the State, within the framework of the guidelines defined by the State itself, in order to ensure the protection of public order, the preservation of family assets and the prevention of excessive gambling.
As an entity that explores social games on behalf of the State, and having its activity heavily regulated by the State itself, the Department of Games is a responsible operator par excellence, playing a key role in promoting moderate gaming habits and prevention of problematic gambling. Offering its players a moderate range of games, accessible to all, with low stakes, simple mechanics and different levels of prizes, the Games Department guarantees an attractive offer that, at the same time, promotes responsible gaming habits.
The São Paulo Lottery was approved after a vote by the State Legislative Assembly on a bill sent by Governor João Dória. On August 26, the Board of Directors of the State Privatization Program published the companies authorized to prepare the studies necessary for the structuring of the São Paulo State Lottery. Those approved have until October 18 to present their studies for subsequent opening of a bidding process for the implementation of the lottery.
