The congressman said that it is essential to hold weekly meetings so that the report is, in fact, consensual and meets the expectations of all members. The chairman of the Tourism Committee, Deputy Bacelar, highlighted the need to speed up the processing of the project, approved by the Special Committee in 2016.
“Brazil needs to get out of illegality. We cannot turn a blind eye to gaming. We all know about the hypocrisy, but we have to be coherent and approve all the modalities,” pondered Bacelar. During the meeting, Vermelho highlighted that, after legalization, the government will be able to regulate, control and debug the activity.
“With the legalization of the gaming sector, the government will be able to collect R$ 20 billion a year in taxes, formalize and generate around 700 thousand direct jobs and thousands indirect ones, besides contributing to the promotion of tourism,” highlighted Vermelho.
“By taking the activity out of illegality, the government will be able to determine how each modality will work, it will control companies, casinos, bingos and all online betting, and even sort it all out. In other words, we can only win,” added the deputy.
Casinos
Deputy Vermelho has stood out in the group for defending the legalization of casinos in Brazil. Large cities such as Rio and São Paulo may be contemplated with casinos integrated with resorts: “Cities such as Foz do Iguaçu should be considered as tourist casinos, with a large structure for gaming, an amphitheater and restaurants.”
“That way we will take advantage of the large hotel infrastructure that already exists to host players and their families. With this, we will contribute to the recovery of the hotel sector, affected by the pandemic,” adds the deputy.
Next Friday, deputy Vermelho will be in Foz do Iguaçu and should promote a meeting with the trade to hear the opinion of the leaders. “It is the entities in the sector that will help us to support the modernization of the project,” concludes the deputy.
In addition to deputy Vermelho, deputies Bacelar, Carreras, Lomanto Júnior, Marx Beltrão, Eduardo Bismarck, Luis Tibé, Augusto Coutinho and Bibo Nunes were also present at the meeting. The Working Group has 90 days to complete the report.
