More than US$18k in prizes

Free Fire Favelas Cup returns with official sponsorship from Itaú

The Favelas Free Fire Cup, the largest Free Fire tournament of favelas - type of slum in Brazil- in the world, will resume in 2021 with an even longer season. Based on the popular mobile game, the tournament, created and promoted by Favela Esporte in partnership with Central Única das Favelas (Cufa), will gather more than 200,000 players with 1296 teams from favelas from all Brazil. The total prize pool will be over R$100k (US$18k), in addition to a bootcamp with the Loud team, one of the biggest in the country in eSports, for the winning team.

This year, the project will have Itaú as its official sponsor. The bank will carry out several actions to promote the tournament and will support the teams involved, including the distribution of internet connection chips for all teams that advance to the state stages, in an unprecedented digital inclusion project and a series of contents on financial education and entrepreneurship in the gaming world through a WhatsApp bot. Loud will have the status of official partner, sponsoring the tournament and bringing new content about the Favelas Free Fire Cup, in addition to promoting a great showmatch with the finalists.

Once again, let's make history. With so many great and credible partners, this edition of the Favelas Free Fire Cup has everything to be giant. Doing grand and historic things is already the practice of the Taça das Favelas, whether in the countryside or electronically,” celebrated Celso Athayde, creator of the Favelas Cup and CEO of Favela Holding.

Itaú's partnership with Cufa, Loud and Favelas Cup is part of the #issoMudaOGame campaign, a movement initiated by the bank to get closer to the gaming universe and promote transformation and social impact through eSports.

We want to connect more and more with the new generations, hence the approach to the gamer community. And the relationship we're building with this audience starts with two fundamental questions: what can we learn and what can we do to help transform these people's lives for the better? It is a process that begins with listening and inviting co-creation,” highlighted Eduardo Tracanella, Itaú's Institutional Marketing Director.

Registration is now open on the event's official website. Favelas interested in participating can express their interest through a form. The competition will then move to a statewide format, in which the winning favelas advance to the national stage. Player registration is open from today (29), until the next October 13.

The decisive stages of the tournament and the showmatch with Loud will be broadcast live on the official channels of the Favelas Free Fire Cup and on the official channels of Garena, a partner in the project.
